Who We Are

Welcome to TransEnduro. The site is owned, run and populated by motorcycle adventure travel enthusiasts for motorcycle adventure travel enthusiasts. Read about our past trips, our successes and disasters and keep up to date with all the news and action from this years big trip as it happens.

The 2014 H.A.T Team

For this years big trip, a return to the trails of the French and Italian Alps with a large helping of organised chaos thrown in, we have a blend of the usual suspects plus a return of a TE member who’s been on the sidelines for a few years. Do they know what they’ve let themselves in for? Are they ready for some long days in the saddle, for short tempers, high spirits and even higher altitudes… time will tell!

Rob Barron

Rob Barron

Freelance Creative Artworker, web designer, adrenaline junkie

With a wealth of European travel in his panniers, Rob is expedition leader. Route planning being a particular passion means that we hit the continent once more with a very good idea of where we’re going. Building on Pyree Pyree 2010, TranspyrEnduro 2012 and P13: Pyrenees we’re discovering and packing in more and more trails every time out. The 1150 Adventure is on the subs bench this year and the BMW G650X Challenge steps up to the mark as the weapon of choice for the unique challenges of the 2014 trip.

Steve Ward

Steve Ward

Freelance Designer/Artworker, adventure enthusiast, dreamer

After the epic TransMedEnduro trip back in 2005 there really was no going back for Steve. He’d only just passed his motorcycle test back then, but that experience left him well and truly converted. Last year he kayaked the River Arun and 2012’s TransPyrEnduro was an amazing addition to an ever growing list of awesome experiences. Steve’s trusty Yamaha Tenéré XTZ600 has proved to be very handy on the mountain trails and will be his steed of choice for another year – just as soon as he’s got that new engine fitted!

Dave Dean

Dave Dean

Owner of Dean Clean, converted road biker

Dave joined the soggy Four Points Tour of Ireland and luckily, not being put off by that experience also travelled to the Isle of Mann for the TT with us. Dave’s 2012 trip didn’t begin well, nor did the 2013 trip, so this will be his first taste of some of the gnarlier terrain in the Alps. Indulging his passion for British engineering, Dave is now the proud owner of a Triumph Tiger 800 XC.

Paul Smith-Halvorsen

Paul Smith-Halvorsen

Production Controller at M&C Saatchi

Back in the saddle for the 2014 trip, Paul’s dedication and enthusiasm for all things bike make him an integral part of the team. Having wrestled his Triumph Tiger to the top of the Stella back in 2007, Paul has had the adventure biking bug in a big way. Currently he’s getting to grips with the idiosyncrasies of his new-to-him KTM 640 Adventure on the Surrey Lanes.

Simon Wellington

Simon Wellington

Simon’s previous excursions include our amazing experience on The Stella Alpina Rally and he also joined Steve and Dave for our nautical jaunt around the Emerald Isle plus the 2009 Isle of Mann trip. A habit of going MIA has earned Simon the moniker ‘Where’s Welly’ although he’s never lost for long and is always a great traveling companion.

Darren Blane

Darren Blane

Senior interactive designer freelance at BeepGrafik

A new addition to Team TE for 2013’s Pyrenees trip and now living in Germany, Darren is a lifelong road biker and was recently converted to the idea of Adventure Touring by Steve. Having just bought Rob’s trusty DRZ400, Darren’s in the process of adventurising and getting the Suzuki through the rigorous German TUV.

Michael jackson

Michael jackson

Another new member for 2013, Michael was talked into 2013’s Pyrenees Adventure by Darren. Another long-term roadbiker tired of traffic and track days, Michael has picked up a Triumph Tiger 955i to take to the mountains and can’t wait to get it on, and off, some proper roads! Meanwhile he’s honing his trail skills with lots of weekend Green Lane sessions on his Yamaha WR250, not to mention getting lots of exercise kicking the reluctant little bike over!
